Camel Tour at Sunrise

Saturday October 27, 2007 (Day 11 early morning)

Camel Tour at Sunrise

Up early like at 4:45 A.M. so we can get a ride on a camel. Meet the bus at 5 A.M. and drove to the camel yards which was not far from the hotel. We had the honor of riding the chief stud (Rodney) for a lovely one hour ride on the desert over red earth and many beautiful dessert plants. We where in a camel trail of eight camels and they where all connected together and the leader of the camel trial walked along in front and stopped at various places and talked about the desert flora.

After an hour ride to watch the sunrise we arrived back at the camel stables where we had home made beer bread and coffee or tea. It was very tasty. Back to the hotel to gather our things and off to the airport at Ayers Rock so we could be rocketed down the runway for our second flight within the continent in a Boeing 717 jet for a 25 minute ride to Alice Springs.
